On Friday July 24, 2026, volunteers assisted the staff at the 2026 LSA Summer SMILE Camp held at the Special Needs Caring Center, helping provide engaging and meaningful activities for campers with special needs.
Volunteers provided individualized support, giving participants opportunities to practice motor skills and living skills in a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment throughout the daily activities, including interactive dancing and painting sessions. Through music, rhythm, coordinated movements and artistic activities, participants practiced following directions, improving motor coordination, and expressing themselves.
The campers actively participated in each activity and enjoyed the positive and welcoming atmosphere. These experiences helped strengthen their daily living skills, communication abilities, social interactions, and self-confidence while fostering meaningful friendships and connections with both volunteers and fellow campers. The event also provided volunteers with a rewarding opportunity to serve the special needs community with compassion, patience, and encouragement.
