On August 1, volunteers led a fan painting session they designed for the campers. To begin, campers were invited to choose from several traditional Chinese designs featuring lotus flowers, fish, architecture, and landscapes. Volunteers then assisted them in sketching their chosen designs on the fan by either freehand or using stencils with pencil outlines. Once the sketches were complete, the campers painted their fans using watercolor or acrylic paints. Afterward, volunteers helped write Chinese calligraphy on the back of each fan to complete the project. Later in the day, the volunteers also supported center staff in teaching a life skills class.
Volunteers (7 hrs): Zoey Dou, Erica Gao, Grace Wu
