On Sunday November 16, 2025, Joshua Meng hosted the first volunteer chess over the school year. The students were introduced to basic chess concepts like the knight fork and tactical awareness in a position. They learned that before moving it’s important to think carefully about what your opponent wants to do. Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to play against fellow peers and implement what they learned.
We provided an opportunity to the community to learn about the wonders of chess, while still having fun, allowing them to practice concepts that they have learned, gain knowledge, and improve their overall gameplay.
Volunteer (3 hours): Joshua Meng
Parent on duty (3 hours): Lingyu Meng (Joshua)
