Achieve Together Community Chess (#85): Our Officer Speech at GT Academy on July 22, 2026

On July 22nd, 2026 our officer Joshua Meng was invited as a guest speaker at the Pearland GT Academy Summer Boot Camp. During his presentation, Joshua reflected on his personal journey in chess, music, and volunteering, highlighting how dedication, perseverance, and a willingness to serve others have shaped his growth as both a student and a leader.

A major focus of Joshua's speech was his volunteer experience with our organization. He introduced campers to the organization's mission of empowering youth through leadership and community service. Joshua shared his experiences leading community chess lessons, organizing volunteer events, and participating in numerous service projects that have benefited local families and organizations. He encouraged the campers to become involved in volunteer work and explained how we provides meaningful opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills while giving back to the community.

The interactive Q&A session allowed campers to learn more about AYLUS. Joshua answered questions about the member registration process, volunteer opportunities, and the wide variety of activities available to youth volunteers. To conclude the event, Joshua hosted a fun mini chess simul exhibition, playing multiple campers at the same time. 

Joshua's visit was a memorable experience for the Pearland GT Academy Summer Boot Camp. We look forward to welcoming more enthusiastic students who are eager to serve their community and make a lasting difference.
